// Free folder tree copier for Windows 10 & 11
Twig
Right-click a folder, get its tree.
Copy any folder's structure as a clean tree, ready to paste into a chat, a README, an issue or an AI prompt. It follows .gitignore and skips node_modules, so you get the project and not the noise. Built in Rust.
- Version1.0.0
- ForWindows 10 & 11, 64-bit
- Size5.7 MB
- LicenseMIT, donationware
// Built light
Nothing running until you right-click
- 0%CPU while it waits
- ~3 MBmemory at rest
- 5.7 MBone exe, no installer
The right-click entry starts Twig, copies and exits; nothing stays behind. Kept in the tray for the hotkey, it waits at about 0.7 million CPU cycles in 10 seconds (zero, near enough) with 3.1 MB of private memory, measured with Windows' own counters on a 2019 ThinkPad (i5-10310U, Windows 11).
What it does
Right-click, done
Copy tree with Twig sits in File Explorer's right-click menu on folders, inside folders and on drives. One click and the tree is on your clipboard.
The folder as Git sees it
It follows .gitignore, .ignore and Git's own excludes the way Git does, and always skips node_modules, .git and __pycache__. No build output, no .env.
A hotkey in Explorer
Ctrl+Alt+T copies the folder that's open in front, in the tab you're on, or the one folder you've selected.
Three ways to write it
A tree like the tree command draws, the same tree in a Markdown block for READMEs and GitHub, or one path per line for scripts and AI prompts.
Made for pasting
Folders first, natural order (file2 before file10), long folders cut to "… 312 more", a line limit, and optional sizes and depth. It fits where you paste it.
A card, not a pop-up
A small card shows the top of the tree, the counts and what was left out, with buttons to copy it again as Markdown or as paths. It never takes the keyboard.
A live preview
The settings show a real folder's tree as you change them, so you know what you'll paste before you paste it.
Featherweight
No shell extension and nothing loaded into Explorer: the right-click starts Twig, copies and exits. In the tray for the hotkey it sleeps at zero CPU in about 3 MB.

Getting started
- Download Twig.exe, put it where it can stay (a tools folder, Documents) and run it. Windows may say it doesn't know the publisher yet: choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Twig adds Copy tree with Twig to the right-click menu and opens its settings once to say hello.
- Right-click any folder and choose Copy tree with Twig (on Windows 11, Show more options first). Paste it anywhere.
- With Twig in the tray, Ctrl+Alt+T copies the folder open in File Explorer. Turn on Start with Windows to keep the hotkey.
